IMPRINT METHODS:

4-Color Process:

Printing process that individually prints reds, yellows, blues and blacks, otherwise known as CMYK (Cyan – Magenta - Yellow – Black).

Debossing:

Image is sunken into or depressed into a material such as paper, leather, suede, so that the image sits below the product's surface.

Decal:

Imprinting method whereby the Decal is printed on an Offset or Letterset press, then submerged in water and placed on the product. Excess air and water are squeezed off the product and then, it is kiln-fired. This process fuses the decal with the protective surface glaze.

Die-Casting:

This is a process where molten metal is injected into the cavity of a hand-carved die.

Die-Striking:

This is a method of producing emblems and embroidery patches. A blank, cut from a metal sheet, is struck with a hammer that holds the die in place.

Digitizing:

Camera-ready artwork is converted into embroidery-compatible software by means of vector geometry and the finished size of the logo determines the total stitch count. The cost to digitize is 25.00/1000 - $35.00/1000, depending on the mfr. and priced-to-the-penny. A stitch count less than 4000 stitches is priced at a flat rate of $100.00. An embroidery floppy disk in .dst is in the correct format and can be emailed to us for verification before your order costs are determined.

Embossing:

The raising of an image above a product’s surface and is accomplished by pressing the material (usually leather) between concave and convex dies.

Embroidery:

A design that is stitched onto fabric through the use of high-speed, computerized, multi-head sewing machines.

Etching:

The product to be imaged is coated with a protective coating that resists acid. The image is then exposed, leaving the bare and protected metal. The acid selectively attacks the exposed metal, leaving the image etched into the surface.

Foil Stamping, a.k.a. Hot-Stamping:

Process in which a metal plate or die is heated then pressed against a foil material into a surface, causing the pigments of the foil to transfer to the surface.

Hot Stamping:

Dry Imprinting Process where a design or type is set into a ‘Relief Die’ which is then impressed by heat and pressured onto the printing surface.

Laser Engraving:

Art or Lettering is cut into a material by a laser beam that vaporizes the portion exposed through openings in the template.

Offset Printing:

Printing process whereby a positive image is transferred to a rubber blanket in reverse and then, in turn, it is applied to a surface to be printed, ‘right reading’ or right side up as it were.

Screen-Printing, a.k.a. Silk-Screening:

The image is transferred to a printed surface by special inks squeezed through a stenciled screen stretched over a wooden or aluminum/titanium frame. Screens are treated with a light-sensitive chemical emulsion. Then, film positives are put in contact with the screens and exposed to light. The light hardens the emulsion not covered by the film, leaving a soft area on the screen for the squeegee to force ink through to the fabric.

Sublimation:

Dye Transfer Process where the image consists of a colored dye that is permanently embedded into the material surface pores. This method is used to imprint messages, graphics and photos on numerous products, primarily mouse pads, coffee mugs, t-shirts, baseball caps & trophies.
